Project Engineer - Heavy Civil Construction

A respected and well-established heavy civil general contractor in the Seattle area is seeking a Project Engineer to join their growing team. This firm is known for delivering complex infrastructure projects with a focus on quality, safety, and long-term community impact. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in civil construction and a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of heavy civil construction projects
- Support project managers with cost tracking, document control, and subcontractor coordination
- Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, and change orders
- Monitor field activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards
- Participate in project meetings and provide technical support to field teams
Experience Required
- 2-5 years of experience in heavy civil construction (e.g., highways, bridges, utilities, marine, or public works)
- Familiarity with construction drawings, specifications, and field operations
- Experience with layout, surveying, or field engineering is advantageous
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and construction management software (e.g., Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Primavera P6, or HCSS)
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, field-oriented environment
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed
