Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Transportation Design Engineer to lead the design and delivery of roadway and highway projects for local agencies and state transportation clients. This position combines hands-on technical design work with project management, client engagement, and mentorship of junior staff.
Responsibilities
- Lead transportation design projects from concept development through PS&E delivery.
- Prepare and review roadway plans, specifications, estimates, and technical reports.
- Apply Caltrans and local agency standards to transportation improvement projects.
- Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality control requirements.
- Coordinate with clients, agencies, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and training to junior engineers.
- Support proposal preparation, client presentations, and business development efforts.
- Assist with construction support and project implementation activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Active California Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 9 years of transportation design engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of Caltrans standards, procedures, and design requirements.
- Experience utilizing CAD software for transportation projects.
- Background in preparing PS&E packages and design reports.
- Proven project management experience, including budget and schedule oversight.
- Strong communication and client relationship management skills.
- Familiarity with HDM, PDPM, CAMUTCD, AASHTO Green Book, and related design standards.

- Base salary ranging from $120,000 - $150,000, depending on experience.
