Security Design Associate

The Opportunity
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support end-to-end design efforts, from concept development through construction documentation and site observation
- Manage project timelines, budgets, quality control, and client requirements
- Conduct site surveys and client consultations to define system requirements
- Develop drawings, specifications, and cost estimates for electronic security systems
- Review technical submissions and ensure compliance with design intent
- Coordinate infrastructure layouts with internal teams and external partners
- Act as a liaison between clients, vendors, and project teams during implementation
- Support vendor selection and contract negotiation processes
- Contribute to business development efforts, including presentations and client relationship building
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed (approximately 5-10%)
Required Experience & Skills
- 3+ years of experience in security systems design or design/build environments
- Strong understanding of architecture/engineering design integration processes
- Expertise in systems such as:
- Access control
- CCTV and video surveillance
- Intrusion detection
- Advanced applications (e.g., biometrics, video analytics, visitor management)
- Experience conducting risk assessments and working with both physical and electronic security systems
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; working knowledge of Revit/BIM preferred
- Strong communication and presentation skills with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Client-focused mindset with proven stakeholder engagement experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows environments
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- Active participation in relevant industry organizations is a plus
Preferred Certifications (at least one)
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
- Physical Security Professional (PSP)
- Membership in recognized security industry organizations (e.g., ASIS, IAPSC)
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $90,000 - $115,000 (dependent on experience, skills, and internal equity)
