Senior Sustainable Building Commissioning Specialist
Salary: $95,000 - $130,000+ (depending on location and experience)
A nationally recognized sustainability and building performance consulting firm is seeking a Senior Sustainable Building Commissioning Specialist to join its growing team. This organization partners with leading technology, life sciences, higher education, and commercial clients to deliver high-performance, energy-efficient, and sustainable building solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead commissioning activities for new construction and existing building projects.
- Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with commissioning standards, LEED requirements, and applicable energy codes.
- Develop and maintain commissioning documentation including Owner's Project Requirements (OPR), Commissioning Plans, Training Plans, Systems Manuals, and Final Commissioning Reports.
- Perform site visits, witness functional testing, and validate system performance.
- Oversee commissioning processes for HVAC, BAS/controls, electrical, plumbing, renewable energy, and central plant systems.
- Mentor junior commissioning professionals and provide technical leadership on project teams.
- Participate in client-facing meetings and contribute to project delivery, budgeting, scheduling, and quality assurance efforts.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in building performance, sustainability consulting, commissioning, or a related field.
- 5+ years of hands-on commissioning experience.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, controls, and building automation systems.
- Experience with LEED and high-performance building projects.
- CxP certification preferred.
- PE license and experience with HVAC controls, BAS, energy auditing, or renewable energy systems strongly preferred.
