Senior Transmission Line Engineer - REMOTE
An employee-owned engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Structural Transmission Line Engineer to support the design, analysis, and execution of transmission line projects across a range of voltage levels, including EHV systems. This individual will serve as a technical leader on complex transmission projects, provide mentorship to engineering staff, and work closely with clients and project teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support structural engineering and transmission line design activities for utility transmission projects.
- Perform engineering analysis and design for overhead transmission systems, including greenfield and rebuild projects.
- Prepare calculations, technical reports, specifications, and engineering deliverables.
- Develop recommendations for transmission structures, materials, and equipment selection.
- Manage assigned project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.
- Review engineering work and provide technical guidance to project team members.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Identify project risks and develop practical engineering solutions to complex technical challenges.
- Maintain strong client relationships and support business development efforts when needed.
- Contribute to engineering standards, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineering professionals.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum of 11 years of relevant experience in transmission line engineering and structural design.
- Strong understanding of engineering design principles, industry standards, and utility transmission systems.
- Experience managing technical aspects of large and complex engineering projects.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary project teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with overhead transmission line projects ranging from 69kV to 500kV and above.
- Proficiency with PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, or similar transmission design software.
- Experience with utility-scale transmission infrastructure projects.
- Background in transmission structure and foundation design.
- Experience with structural steel and concrete design and 3D structural analysis software.
- Client-facing consulting experience and business development exposure.
