Transportation Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and licensed Transportation Engineer to lead and support transportation infrastructure projects in the Phoenix metropolitan area. The ideal candidate will have a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license and a strong background in roadway design, traffic engineering, and project management. This role involves working closely with public agencies, consultants, and contractors to deliver safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, design, and implementation of transportation projects including highways, arterial roads, intersections, and transit facilities.
  • Perform traffic analysis, modeling, and safety studies to support design decisions.
  • Prepare engineering reports, construction documents, and cost estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation standards and regulations.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including planners, environmental specialists, and construction managers.
  • Review and approve engineering plans and specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and interns.
  • Represent the organization in meetings with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Arizona (or ability to obtain via reciprocity).
  • 5+ years of experience in transportation engineering.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Synchro, or HCS.
  • Strong understanding of AASHTO, MUTCD, and ADOT standards.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with ADOT projects or working with municipal transportation departments.
  • Familiarity with NEPA processes and environmental documentation.
  • Knowledge of pavement design, ITS systems, and multimodal transportation planning.
