Air Quality Project Manager

Position Summary

A well-established environmental consulting firm is seeking a skilled Environmental Engineer or Environmental Scientist to support its expanding Air Quality Services practice. This role involves managing air quality projects, providing technical expertise, and contributing to regulatory compliance efforts across a variety of industries.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare application packages for New Source Review (NSR) and Title V air permits
  • Conduct emission calculations for various industrial and commercial operations
  • Develop and maintain emission inventories for permitting, compliance, and reporting
  • Assist in the creation of recordkeeping tools for regulatory tracking
  • Perform Best Available Control Technology (BACT) analyses
  • Conduct regulatory applicability reviews at local, state, and federal levels
  • Review technical deliverables prepared by junior staff
  • Support larger project execution and contribute to business development initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned by project leadership

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience (8-12 years) in environmental consulting, specifically focused on air permitting, emissions analysis, and regulatory compliance
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field such as Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Atmospheric Science, or Meteorology
  • Deep familiarity with environmental regulations at the federal, state, and local levels, including permitting frameworks and compliance strategies
  • Hands-on experience with air dispersion modeling tools and software such as AERMOD, SCREEN3, or PROMAX
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical findings clearly to clients and stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively across multiple projects and deadlines
  • Experience leading or mentoring junior team members in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
  • Track record of successful client engagement, including project delivery, relationship building, and identifying opportunities for added value

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of direct project management experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in project scoping and proposal development
  • Experience with air dispersion modeling using regulatory models (e.g., AERMOD, ISC-PRIME)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) license, or intent to obtain PE
  • Master's or PhD in a relevant field
