A respected heavy civil general contractor is seeking an Assistant Project Manager (APM) to join its growing team in Bellingham, Washington. The APM will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to help ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the management of heavy civil construction projects from award through closeout.
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel.
- Prepare and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
- Support project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control efforts.
- Review plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Track production, quantities, and project progress.
- Participate in client, owner, and subcontractor meetings.
- Assist with procurement and material management.
- Support project closeout and turnover documentation.
- Help ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Experience Needed
- Experience working on heavy civil construction projects.
- Exposure to excavation, grading, earthwork, utilities, roadway, bridge, marine, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience supporting Project Managers, Project Engineers, or Superintendents.
- Familiarity with subcontractor coordination and project administration.
- Experience reviewing construction plans and specifications.
- Understanding of project cost tracking and scheduling.
- Exposure to self-perform construction operations is preferred.
- Experience working in a fast-paced construction environment.
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 2+ years of heavy civil construction experience.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong problem-solving and attention-to-detail skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to visit active project sites.
