BD - Senior Project Manager
About the Role
This firm is a well-respected, Texas-based engineering consultancy known for our deep technical roots, long-standing utility relationships, and agile, high-integrity approach to power delivery solutions. As they continue to expand their impact across the transmission, substation, and distribution landscape, they're looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead from the front-shaping strategy, growing key accounts, and guiding multidisciplinary project teams.
This role is not just about delivering projects-it's about leading conversations, cultivating trusted partnerships, and playing a visible, strategic role in how we serve and grow within the utility market.
What You'll Do
Strategic Business Development
Act as a visible leader and relationship builder with utility clients across Texas and surrounding regions.
Identify and cultivate new business opportunities in transmission, substation, and distribution sectors through referrals, market intel, and existing relationships.
Guide proposal strategy and development with a focus on thoughtful positioning, technical credibility, and commercial value.
Represent the firm at industry events, client meetings, and within professional networks.
Client-Facing Project Leadership
Serve as the main point of contact for key clients, ensuring alignment on goals, expectations, and long-term partnerships.
Lead complex power delivery projects from conceptual design to final delivery-owning schedule, budget, team coordination, and quality oversight.
Facilitate proactive, honest, and solutions-oriented communication across all project phases.
Team & Technical Management
Collaborate with internal engineering leads across civil, structural, and electrical disciplines to ensure cohesive, high-quality deliverables.
Mentor and guide junior PMs, engineers, and designers with a focus on long-term talent growth.
Participate in resource planning and staffing strategy to meet project pipeline and client needs.
Who You Are
A strategic thinker with strong technical foundations and a business-minded approach to engineering consulting.
Trusted by clients and peers alike-known for your reliability, professionalism, and ability to "see the bigger picture."
Equally comfortable talking shop in a substation control room or presenting to executive decision-makers.
Able to thrive in a smaller, high-trust firm where autonomy, initiative, and collaboration are valued.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field; advanced degree or MBA a plus.
8+ years of experience in power delivery (transmission, substation, and/or distribution), including client-facing project leadership.
Demonstrated success developing or growing utility client accounts, ideally in Texas or the surrounding region.
PMP certification or equivalent preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to lead conversations, not just manage checklists.
Willingness to travel regionally for client meetings and project needs (~15-25%).
