Business Development Director

This is a strategic leadership role focused on driving revenue growth, expanding market presence, and ensuring continuity in client relationships. The Business Development Director will play a pivotal role in leading the company's expansion into new sectors, including government, utilities, and industrial markets, while maintaining strong performance in its core business.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Market Expansion

  • Develop and implement initiatives to grow the business beyond its traditional focus, targeting government agencies, utility providers, and industrial sectors.
  • Secure high-value projects that contribute to long-term, sustainable revenue growth.

2. Succession & Relationship Management

  • Lead efforts to transition key client relationships from senior leadership, ensuring continuity and future-proofing the sales pipeline.
  • Maintain and grow strategic partnerships, particularly with C-suite stakeholders.

3. Pipeline & Sales Cycle Management

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities.
  • Manage the full sales cycle-from prospecting and engagement to negotiation and deal closure.
  • Drive growth in two core areas:
    • Diesel Rotary Uninterruptible Power Supply (DRUPS)
    • Critical generator solutions.

4. Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build and mentor a high-performing business development team.
  • Foster internal talent and succession planning to strengthen sales and client engagement capabilities.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, project management, and sales teams to deliver customized solutions.

5. Commercial Strategy & Partnerships

  • Conduct market research and competitive analysis to refine strategies and offerings.
  • Lead bid and tender processes.
  • Identify and negotiate joint ventures and strategic partnerships to enhance market reach and innovation.

6. Solution Development & Collaboration

  • Work closely with internal teams to design tailored power and energy solutions for industrial and public sector clients.

7. Brand Representation & Advocacy

  • Represent the company at industry events, policy forums, and client meetings.
  • Strengthen brand visibility and influence across Southeast Asia.

8. Performance Reporting

  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to business development.
  • Report on pipeline health, revenue growth, market coverage, relationship transitions, and team development outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field; MBA or equivalent is highly preferred.
  • At least 10 years of senior-level experience in business development or sales within power systems, engineering, data centres, renewable energy, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of generator systems and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) technologies.
  • Proven success in leading teams to achieve significant revenue and market growth.
  • Experience managing executive-level relationships and expanding into new verticals such as government and critical infrastructure.
  • Excellent strategic thinking, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel across Southeast Asia and other key regional markets.
  • High integrity and a results-driven mindset aligned with a collaborative, growth-oriented culture.
