Company Summary:

An EaaS provider that designs, build, owns, operates, and maintains customized energy infrastructure projects is looking to bring on a Chief Engineer to lead the owner's engineering team for a combined cycle power plant project in Ohio!

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic technical leadership across all engineering disciplines, ensuring alignment with project goals, safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee and approve technical designs and deliverables, including EPC contractor submissions, equipment specifications, and engineering calculations.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders, regulatory agencies (EPA, FERC), and the Operations team to ensure integration and compliance.
  • Manage technical risk and issue resolution, leading investigations, studies, and mitigation strategies to optimize plant performance and reliability.
  • Lead project execution activities, including budgeting, scheduling, procurement, commissioning, and startup, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Represent the project in external forums and provide regular updates to senior leadership on technical progress, milestones, and performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Over 10 years of senior engineering leadership in large-scale, multi-billion-dollar power generation projects, with a strong track record of technical delivery and team management.
  • Expertise in combined cycle power plant systems, including gas turbines, steam turbines, HRSGs, and advanced control technologies.
  • Extensive experience overseeing EPC contractors and equipment suppliers, ensuring compliance with industry standards (ASME, IEEE, NFPA) and environmental regulations.
  • Strong technical foundation in automation, digital systems, and performance optimization, with deep knowledge of grid integration and plant operations.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and communication skills, with proven ability to manage stakeholders and lead high-performing engineering teams under pressure.

Requirements:

  • Power Generation Systems: Specialized in thermodynamic cycle optimization, gas and steam turbine technologies (F/H/J-class), HRSG design, and combined cycle plant integration.
  • Balance of Plant Systems: Proficient in electrical systems (5kV-230kV), cooling water, fuel gas infrastructure, fire protection, and auxiliary/emergency power systems.
  • Control Systems & Automation: Deep knowledge of DCS architecture, SIS, cybersecurity for industrial systems, remote diagnostics, and advanced process control.
  • Environmental & Regulatory Compliance: Experienced in air/water permitting, emissions control, noise and waste management, and climate-related regulations.
  • Construction & Commissioning: Skilled in engineering oversight during construction, QA/QC, commissioning/startup, performance testing, and project closeout.
  • Technology: Project Management tools & AutoCAD, ETAP, etc. Experience with specific turbine technology (ex: GE, Siemens, Solar, etc.)
  • Education: BS in Engineering, PE license
