Civil Construction Estimator
Position Overview:
The Civil Estimator is responsible for reviewing blueprints and specifications to develop competitive bids for construction projects. This role also serves as the primary contact for bid invitations, updates, revisions, and contract scope reviews. The company specializes in utility and earthwork projects.
Job Description:
A well-established civil construction firm is seeking an experienced Civil Construction Estimator to join its team. The ideal candidate will support the company's continued growth in efficiency and profitability while maintaining its close-knit, small business culture. Responsibilities include receiving project plans, preparing bids and submittals, and coordinating with field supervisors upon successful bid awards. This is a full-time, office-based position operating Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays required to meet workload and deadline demands.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience in civil/site estimating
- Proven ability to prepare and submit estimates, progress reports, and cost tracking documents
- Experience performing quantity take-offs for projects ranging from $10,000 to $5 million
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans
- Familiarity with environmental regulations, safety standards, building codes, and construction methods
- OSHA 10-Hour Certification
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods
- Manual dexterity and capability to lift or move up to 50 pounds (with assistance if needed)
- Effective verbal communication with team members, clients, and vendors
- Tolerance for moderate to high noise levels in the work environment
