Civil Engineer - Federal, Institutional, Public Works
We are seeking a motivated Civil Engineer with a strong design background to support federal and institutional land development projects. The ideal candidate will have 4-5 years of experience, be on the path to PE licensure, and possess a diverse portfolio that includes stormwater, site utilities, ADA compliance, and parking design. Experience with airfield pavement or horizontal transportation is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and prepare civil site development plans for federal and institutional projects, including:
- Grading, drainage, stormwater systems
- Utility layout and coordination
- ADA-compliant access and parking facilities
- Support vertical construction site development (e.g., federal buildings, healthcare, education)
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to ensure project goals and standards are met
- Assist in proposal development, project planning, and design execution
- Participate in construction administration and project close-out activities
- Contribute to internal growth initiatives, including transportation-focused service expansion
- Apply specialized software tools for design and documentation (e.g., Civil 3D, BlueBeam, SpecsIntact)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- EIT certification required; PE licensure preferred or in progress
- 4-5 years of experience in civil design, ideally with federal or institutional clients
- Experience with:
- Airfield pavement or horizontal transportation design (preferred)
- Federal site development including stormwater, utilities, and ADA compliance
- Strong proficiency in civil design software; specialization in tools like Civil 3D or MicroStation is a plus
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
Preferred Experience
- Familiarity with Department of Defense criteria (UFC, SpecsIntact, ProjNet, Dr. Checks)
- Exposure to federal agencies such as USACE, NAVFAC, or institutional clients (e.g., higher education, healthcare)
- Experience in business development or supporting SF330 preparation is a bonus
