Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Building Automation Field Engineer with strong BAS programming and project delivery experience to join our growing team in Nashville. This is a hybrid role for an engineer who enjoys being both in the field and behind the laptop developing solutions.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Tridium Niagara (N4 preferred) and be comfortable owning projects from startup through client handover. You will be responsible for programming, graphics development, commissioning, troubleshooting, and supporting project execution across commercial, healthcare, industrial, higher education, and mission-critical facilities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take ownership of projects while remaining technically involved in the engineering and programming aspects of BAS delivery.


Key Responsibilities

  • Program, configure, and commission Building Automation Systems utilizing Tridium Niagara N4 and associated controller platforms.
  • Develop and modify control sequences based on project specifications and customer requirements.
  • Create and maintain BAS graphics, dashboards, trends, alarms, and reporting.
  • Perform startup, point-to-point checkout, system testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Troubleshoot controller-level, network, and integration issues.
  • Serve as the technical lead during project execution and customer handover.
  • Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, electricians, and mechanical contractors to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Review drawings, submittals, and sequence of operations documents.
  • Support integration of HVAC equipment including AHUs, VAVs, Chillers, Boilers, Cooling Towers, Pumps, and Central Plant systems.
  • Configure and troubleshoot BACnet, Modbus, and IP-based communication networks.
  • Provide customer training and post-installation support.
  • Support field technicians and commissioning teams as required.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of Building Automation, HVAC Controls, or BAS engineering experience.
  • Experience programming and commissioning BAS systems in commercial buildings.
  • Hands-on experience with Tridium Niagara AX or N4.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC systems and control strategies.
  • Experience with:
    • BACnet/IP
    • BACnet MSTP
    • Modbus
    • Ethernet networking
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, control schematics, and sequence of operations.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Tridium Niagara N4 Certification.
  • Experience with:

    • Siemens Desigo
    • Automated Logic
    • Johnson Controls Metasys
  • Experience developing graphics and user interfaces.
  • Exposure to mission-critical facilities, healthcare, pharmaceutical, higher education, or industrial projects.
  • Previous project leadership or project management experience.
