Development Manager
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Development Manager to lead the advancement of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. This role will manage all aspects of project development, from site origination through permitting and interconnection, ensuring projects reach construction readiness. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in renewable energy development and a proven ability to navigate complex regulatory and market environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Originate and secure project sites through land acquisition and lease agreements.
- Manage interconnection applications and maintain relationships with ISOs/RTOs and utilities.
- Oversee permitting, zoning, and environmental review processes to ensure compliance and timely approvals.
- Coordinate with internal teams (finance, engineering, legal) to align development milestones with project timelines.
- Support negotiations for major project agreements, including land control and power purchase agreements (PPAs).
- Monitor market trends and regulatory developments to identify new opportunities.
- Provide regular updates on project status and risks to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in renewable energy project development (solar and/or storage).
- Strong understanding of U.S. power markets, interconnection processes, and permitting requirements.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, environmental studies, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
