Position Overview
A multi-disciplinary consulting firm is seeking a Director of Land Survey to lead its growing surveying practice. This strategic leadership role involves technical oversight, client engagement, and team development.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Department Oversight
- Lead and manage the land surveying team to ensure high-quality project delivery and effective staff supervision
- Align departmental operations with broader organizational goals
- Develop and implement standards, work-flows, and training programs
- Oversee budgeting, resource planning, and performance metrics
Project Management & Technical Execution
- Manage complex surveying projects from proposal through completion
- Perform boundary computations, topographic mapping, and digital surface modeling
- Supervise field crew scheduling, data processing, and QA/QC of deliverables
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal standards
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary contact for clients and external stakeholders
- Lead proposal development, scope negotiation, and client presentations
- Build long-term relationships and identify opportunities for new business
Mentorship & Team Development
- Mentor junior staff and crew leaders in surveying techniques and software
- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Support professional development and licensure pathways
Required Qualifications
- Professional Land Surveyor license
- Minimum 5 years in a senior project management or supervisory role
- Proficiency in Civil 3D
- Strong understanding of field survey methods and crew operations
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Willingness to work in field conditions as needed
