Position Overview

A multi-disciplinary consulting firm is seeking a Director of Land Survey to lead its growing surveying practice. This strategic leadership role involves technical oversight, client engagement, and team development.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Department Oversight

  • Lead and manage the land surveying team to ensure high-quality project delivery and effective staff supervision
  • Align departmental operations with broader organizational goals
  • Develop and implement standards, work-flows, and training programs
  • Oversee budgeting, resource planning, and performance metrics

Project Management & Technical Execution

  • Manage complex surveying projects from proposal through completion
  • Perform boundary computations, topographic mapping, and digital surface modeling
  • Supervise field crew scheduling, data processing, and QA/QC of deliverables
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and internal standards

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary contact for clients and external stakeholders
  • Lead proposal development, scope negotiation, and client presentations
  • Build long-term relationships and identify opportunities for new business

Mentorship & Team Development

  • Mentor junior staff and crew leaders in surveying techniques and software
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Support professional development and licensure pathways

Required Qualifications

  • Professional Land Surveyor license
  • Minimum 5 years in a senior project management or supervisory role
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D
  • Strong understanding of field survey methods and crew operations
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Willingness to work in field conditions as needed
