Due Diligence Consultant/Technical Report Writer
Overview:
A well-established environmental consulting firm is seeking a seasoned professional to lead and support environmental hazard assessments for a variety of complex projects. This role involves technical analysis, regulatory compliance, and high-level writing for environmental documentation under CEQA and NEPA frameworks.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 12 years of experience in environmental hazard analysis, with a strong foundation in hazardous materials regulations and environmental impact assessment.
- Extensive experience preparing CEQA-compliant hazard sections for Environmental Impact Reports (EIRs) and Initial Studies/Mitigated Negative Declarations (IS/MNDs).
- Proven ability to interpret and incorporate findings from Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments into environmental documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, planning, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills, with a focus on producing clear, technically sound reports.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of technical studies related to hazardous materials and environmental risks.
- Analyze environmental data and site conditions to assess potential impacts and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Conduct desktop research and occasional fieldwork to support project needs.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure regulatory compliance and integrate hazard assessments into broader environmental documents.
- Review third-party technical reports and translate findings into CEQA/NEPA-compliant language.
- Stay informed on evolving environmental regulations and best practices.
- Manage multiple writing assignments and contribute to project planning and delivery.

- Self-motivated and capable of working independently while contributing to team efforts.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality deliverables.
- Strong understanding of CEQA and NEPA processes, particularly in California.
- Experience supporting projects in sectors such as land development, energy, water infrastructure, and municipal planning.
- Comfortable interacting with clients, regulatory agencies, and subcontractors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; familiarity with ArcGIS is a plus.
- Demonstrates ownership and pride in work, with a client-focused and solution-driven mindset.
