My client, a leading engineering firm specializing in mission critical environments, is seeking an Associate Director of Electrical Engineering to join their growing team. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of hyperscale data center design and operations, and offers a unique opportunity to lead high-impact engineering initiatives across complex, large-scale infrastructure projects.
Role Overview
The Associate Director will serve as a senior technical leader within the organization, overseeing full-cycle electrical engineering design activities and contributing to strategic planning, hiring, and policy development. This position is part of the leadership team and plays a key role in driving operational excellence, mentoring engineering staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, code-compliant solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership (≤50%)
- Lead and direct advanced electrical design and calculations for mission critical facilities.
- Serve as Engineer of Record (EoR) on major projects and programs.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews and mentor engineering staff.
- Support training and standards development across the electrical team.
- Utilize AutoCAD and Revit for design documentation and visual aids.
Organizational Development (≥25%)
- Lead strategic planning and hiring for the electrical engineering department.
- Contribute to company-wide policy development and operational decision-making.
- Manage departmental resources, budgets, and staffing to meet strategic goals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
Management & Leadership (≥25%)
- Provide coaching and mentorship to team members.
- Lead departmental initiatives and cross-functional collaboration.
- Align departmental goals with broader organizational strategy.
- Monitor performance, conduct reviews, and support professional development.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of industry experience (education may substitute for some years).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- At least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Expertise in electrical calculations, code compliance, and design software (AutoCAD, Revit).
- Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.

- Travel: Up to 10% across the U.S.
- Physical Requirements: Primarily stationary with occasional movement; may lift up to 25 lbs.
