Electrical Engineering Manager

We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to provide both strategic and technical leadership for the electrical engineering department. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this individual will oversee engineering operations, drive innovation initiatives, and ensure the successful execution of projects through effective leadership and technical expertise.

This role requires a strong background in power systems engineering, proven experience managing technical teams, and the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines to achieve operational and project objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute long-term engineering strategies aligned with business objectives, industry requirements, and evolving technologies.
  • Drive innovation and modernization initiatives within power distribution and protection systems.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers and test technicians, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Represent engineering in customer-facing engagements and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Partner with business development and cross-functional teams to improve customer satisfaction, product performance, and overall project success.
  • Oversee the design, development, testing, and validation of electrical systems and equipment associated with:
    • Protection & Control systems
    • Medium-voltage switchgear
    • Substations
    • Transformers
    • Protective relays
    • Power distribution systems
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical engineering, project management, manufacturing, and operations teams to ensure design-for-manufacturability and successful project execution.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, staffing requirements, and engineering resources.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and industry trends to guide strategic planning.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and professional development efforts.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance on complex engineering challenges.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years of leadership or engineering management experience.
  • Strong technical expertise in:
    • Protection & Control systems
    • Medium-voltage switchgear protection
    • AC and DC power systems for substation control buildings
    • Power system analysis
  • Working knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, NEC, and other applicable industry standards and codes.
  • Proven experience managing engineering teams and complex technical projects.
  • Strong understanding of electrical design principles, engineering tools, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with budget management, planning, and resource allocation.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
