Energy Consultant - Decarbonisation & Energy Procurement (PPA Focus)
Overview
We are partnering with a leading MNC with a strong global presence and an established client base across industrial sectors. The firm is a trusted advisor to major corporations on energy transition and sustainability, supporting clients in achieving their decarbonisation and carbon reduction targets.
This position will play a key role in advising large heavy industry and advanced manufacturing clients across Japan and the broader APAC region on energy procurement strategies, renewable energy sourcing, and PPA execution.
Key Responsibilities
Decarbonisation & Energy Strategy
- Advise large industrial and manufacturing clients on decarbonisation strategies, focusing on Scope 1, 2, and relevant Scope 3 emissions
- Develop tailored roadmaps to support clients in achieving carbon reduction and sustainability targets
- Provide strategic insights on energy transition, renewable adoption, and long-term energy sourcing strategies
Energy Procurement & PPA Advisory
- Lead end-to-end advisory on renewable energy procurement, including corporate PPAs (physical and virtual)
- Support clients in structuring, evaluating, and executing PPA transactions across Japan and the region
- Conduct market analysis on energy pricing, renewable supply, regulatory developments, and procurement trends
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to negotiate and close PPA agreements
Client Engagement & Project Delivery
- Manage client relationships with Fortune 500 companies, acting as a trusted advisor on energy and sustainability matters
- Lead project execution from strategy development through to implementation and delivery
- Coordinate across internal teams (finance, legal, technical) and external stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes
- Deliver high-quality presentations, reports, and recommendations to senior client stakeholders
Market & Industry Insight
- Monitor developments in energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and decarbonisation initiatives across Japan and APAC
- Identify emerging opportunities in clean energy procurement and sustainability solutions
- Support business development activities by contributing to proposal development and client engagement
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Energy, Engineering, Sustainability, Finance, or a related field
- Proven experience in energy consulting, sustainability advisory, or renewable energy markets
- Strong knowledge of energy procurement mechanisms, particularly corporate PPAs and renewable sourcing strategies
- Experience working with Commercial & Industrial (C&I) clients, ideally within heavy industry or advanced manufacturing
- Strong understanding of carbon accounting frameworks and decarbonisation strategies
- Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders in a fast-paced consulting environment
Language & Location
- Fluent in both Japanese and English (business level required)
- Based in Japan
- Coverage across Japan and regional APAC markets
