Engineering Leader

What You'll Do

• Provide leadership and direction to a group of engineers and CAD designers, including mentoring, workload coordination, and quality oversight.
• Manage and support delivery of municipal infrastructure projects spanning transportation improvements, water distribution, wastewater collection, and related public works systems.
• Serve as a technical reviewer and coach, ensuring designs are coordinated, constructible, and aligned with agency standards and best practices.
• Lead project management activities such as defining scope, establishing schedules, coordinating internal and external stakeholders, and tracking project performance from kickoff through closeout.
• Develop and refine scopes of work, staff-hour estimates, and fee proposals; contribute to pursuit strategy and support interview preparation as needed.
• Maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication, responsiveness, and consistent delivery quality; identify and pursue follow-on work opportunities.
• Coordinate effectively with city, county, and special district staff, as well as regulatory agencies and utility stakeholders, to advance designs and resolve issues efficiently.
• Oversee budgets for projects of varying size and complexity, balancing cost control with schedule, staffing, and quality requirements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of internal standards and workflows, including drawing production practices, review procedures, and interdisciplinary coordination.

What You Bring

• 15+ years of progressively responsible experience delivering municipal infrastructure projects, including both hands-on design and oversight responsibilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or a closely related engineering field) from an accredited institution.
• Active California Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Demonstrated experience supervising engineers and designers in a collaborative environment, with an ability to set clear expectations and provide constructive feedback.
• Working knowledge of civil design and production tools (e.g., Civil 3D or comparable CAD platforms) and strong general proficiency with common office software (spreadsheets, documents, and project correspondence).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including comfort presenting technical information to non-technical audiences and facilitating discussions with public agency partners.
• Proven ability to support client development, including relationship management, identifying needs, and positioning services to meet upcoming program goals.
• Experience preparing proposal content, developing task-level scopes, and building fee and budget frameworks that align with project requirements and risk.
• A practical, delivery-minded approach to capital project oversight, with attention to quality, schedule, and cost-whether managing a small assignment or a larger multi-phase CIP effort.
