Environmental Compliance Consultant - Engineer or Scientist
Are you passionate about driving sustainable solutions and supporting environmental compliance initiatives? In this role, you'll contribute to a diverse range of industrial projects, offering regulatory guidance, preparing environmental permits, conducting site assessments, and producing comprehensive technical reports. You'll collaborate with both private sector leaders and public agencies to evaluate environmental impacts, support regulatory adherence, and develop innovative strategies for long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage water-related permitting processes, including groundwater discharge, NPDES, soil erosion, and other relevant permits.
- Partner with internal teams on specialized permits such as inland lakes, streams, and water withdrawal registrations.
- Develop environmental documentation including SPCC Plans, Pollution Incident Prevention Plans (PIPPs), Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans (HWCPs), and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs).
- Support routine environmental reporting and recordkeeping required for compliance.
- Conduct on-site audits, gather data, review documentation, and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform air emissions evaluations, regulatory reviews, and compliance assessments.
- Prepare greenhouse gas inventories and related emissions reports.
- Design sustainability strategies to help clients achieve goals like zero waste to landfill.
- Submit regulatory applications and compliance reports.
- Carry out field inspections, including visible emissions readings, waste assessments, and stormwater sampling.
- Analyze environmental data to support reporting and decision-making.
- Provide on-site regulatory support at industrial locations.
- Foster strong relationships with clients through consistent communication and reliable service.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, consulting, EHS management, or regulatory agency work.
- Background in hazardous waste management and waste characterization.
- Experience preparing environmental reports and regulatory documentation.
- Solid understanding of environmental regulations and compliance frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal skills for client engagement and relationship building.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, especially in technical writing and proposal development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formula creation and data analysis.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
