A well-established engineering consultancy is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to lead field survey operations across a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities:
Establish control lines and elevation benchmarks for accurate construction layout
Conduct topographic and cross-sectional surveys for planning and quantity verification
Perform as-built condition checks and quantity calculations
Maintain and calibrate survey equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability
Lead and supervise field staff including instrument operators and rod/chain crew
Document field data through notes, sketches, and digital mapping tools
Interpret engineering plans and visualize three-dimensional layouts from drawings
Ensure compliance with safety protocols and project-specific regulations
Stake out reference points, clearing boundaries, and layout features on-site
Generate detailed reports and digital maps for internal and client use
Qualifications & Skills:
5-8 years of experience in land surveying within construction or design environments
Proficient with a wide range of surveying equipment and techniques
Experience with Trimble software (Trimble Access preferred)
UAV certification and AutoCAD proficiency are advantageous but not required
Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision
Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities
Effective team leadership and communication skills
Ability to plan tasks, select appropriate tools, and make sound decisions under pressure
