Lead Engineer

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to provide technical leadership and project execution support for complex EPC projects. This individual will serve as the discipline lead for assigned projects, overseeing engineering deliverables, mentoring engineering teams, and coordinating with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise within their engineering discipline, experience leading multidisciplinary projects, and a proven ability to deliver engineering solutions from concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership

  • Lead engineering activities through all project phases, including conceptual design, detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned projects.
  • Develop engineering design criteria, technical specifications, and project deliverables.
  • Coordinate project scope, schedules, budgets, and resource requirements.
  • Support project planning, estimating, and execution strategies.
  • Interface directly with clients, vendors, contractors, OEMs, and project stakeholders.

Engineering & Design

  • Develop, review, and approve engineering calculations, drawings, technical reports, specifications, and design packages.
  • Ensure designs meet project requirements, applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Provide technical input during project development and design reviews.
  • Support multidisciplinary coordination across engineering teams.
  • Participate in technical risk assessments, constructability reviews, and value-engineering efforts.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level engineers and designers.
  • Review and approve technical deliverables within assigned discipline.
  • Support the development and maintenance of engineering standards and procedures.
  • Assist with training initiatives and knowledge-sharing programs.
  • Promote continuous improvement and engineering excellence across projects.

Procurement & Construction Support

  • Develop technical specifications and procurement packages.
  • Evaluate vendor proposals and perform technical bid reviews.
  • Review vendor drawings and equipment submittals for compliance with project requirements.
  • Support construction teams by responding to RFIs and resolving field engineering issues.
  • Participate in testing, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting activities as required.

Quality & Safety

  • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Support quality assurance and quality control initiatives.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through safe and practical engineering design.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project performance and execution.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience within EPC, conventional power generation, utilities, renewable energy, industrial, manufacturing, infrastructure, or related environments.
  • Experience serving as a lead engineer on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Demonstrated success supporting large-scale engineering and infrastructure projects.

Technical Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge within a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Experience developing engineering specifications, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with engineering design software and project execution tools relevant to the discipline.
  • Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) processes.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations.
