Overview
An established mechanical and plumbing contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to lead large‑scale multifamily high‑rise construction projects. This role requires a strong technical background, proven leadership capabilities, and the ability to guide teams through complex, multi‑year projects valued in the multi‑million‑dollar range.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience managing mechanical and/or plumbing scopes on major new‑construction projects and excels at driving execution, mentoring junior staff, and maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all phases of mechanical and/or plumbing construction projects from planning through closeout
- Oversee project performance, schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies
- Lead and mentor project teams, including Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, and field staff
- Coordinate with general contractors, architects, engineers, and subcontractors
- Ensure project compliance with codes, safety requirements, and quality standards
- Review technical submittals, drawings, RFIs, and change orders
- Manage project financials, forecasting, and reporting
- Lead project meetings and maintain proactive communication with clients and stakeholders
- Provide strategic guidance to elevate overall project delivery and team performance
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 5-15 years of project management experience in mechanical or plumbing construction
- Strong background in new construction multifamily high‑rise projects
- Candidates with hospital or healthcare project experience will be considered, but high‑rise experience is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience managing large-scale projects similar in size and complexity to majorhigh‑rise developments
- Examples: 30+ story buildings, project values of $10-20 million, and durations of 2-4 years
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise and guide teams effectively
- This role oversees a structure that may include a PM and multiple Assistant Project Managers
- Strong communication, problem solving, and decision-making abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities
