Municipal Civil Engineer
About the Role
Our client is seeking a Municipal Engineer with a strong background in Water Resources to join their growing team in either Dallas or San Antonio. This position is ideal for an engineer with 2-5 years of experience who enjoys working on a variety of municipal infrastructure and drainage projects, while also gaining exposure to land development engineering.
The successful candidate will support the planning, design, and delivery of stormwater, drainage, flood mitigation, and municipal infrastructure projects for city, county, and other public-sector clients across Texas.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the design and analysis of stormwater drainage systems, detention facilities, and flood control infrastructure.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling using industry-standard software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, ICPR, InfoWorks ICM, or similar tools.
- Support municipal roadway drainage, storm sewer, channel improvement, and watershed studies.
- Prepare engineering reports, drainage studies, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with municipalities, drainage districts, and regulatory agencies throughout project execution.
- Assist with the preparation of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Contribute to floodplain analysis, FEMA-related studies, CLOMRs, and LOMRs where applicable.
- Provide engineering support on municipal utility projects, including water, wastewater, and public infrastructure improvements.
- Gain exposure to land development projects, including site drainage, grading, utility layout, and permitting activities.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and CAD designers to deliver high-quality solutions for clients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 2-5 years of engineering experience focused primarily on water resources, drainage, stormwater, or municipal infrastructure projects.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; PE license or active pursuit of licensure preferred.
- Experience with H&H modeling software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, InfoWorks ICM, XPSWMM, or similar.
- Familiarity with municipal design standards and permitting requirements within Texas.
- Exposure to land development projects, including grading, drainage design, or utility coordination.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication, technical writing, and project coordination skills.
