Salary: $150,000 - $175,000 base, 20% bonus
Summary
This role leads a North American field sales organization covering 30+ territories across direct teams and independent rep firms in heavy industrial markets. It is a highly visible position with direct exposure to senior leadership and a strong influence on long-term commercial strategy, especially around evolving channel sales over the next 3-5 years. The leader will spend significant time in the field building credibility with an experienced rep network while driving accountability, pipeline growth, and consistent execution. The position blends technical sales leadership with hands-on deal involvement, customer engagement, and cross-functional collaboration in a matrixed environment. It is designed as a stepping-stone role for someone targeting director-level leadership within a few years, with meaningful impact on how the sales model evolves.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate a distributed field sales team consisting of district managers, direct reps, and independent rep firms, ensuring alignment to revenue and margin targets
- Travel extensively (often 50-70%) to conduct joint sales calls, ride-alongs, and in-person coaching to drive activity, accountability, and close rates
- Shape and execute channel sales strategy, including evaluating coverage gaps, expanding into new industrial segments, and refining the partner model based on long-term growth plans
- Build relationships with key accounts, EPCs, contractors, and internal stakeholders while supporting proposal development, pricing strategy, and technical solution positioning
- Monitor sales activity, enforce follow-up discipline, analyze pipeline performance, and implement tools or processes to improve win rates and visibility
Qualifications
- Engineering or technical degree with the ability to understand industrial systems and complex solution-based sales
- Background in heavy industry such as power generation, mining, steel, cement, pulp and paper, or similar sectors
- 10+ years of technical or industrial experience with at least 5 years leading field-based sales teams in a distributed model
- Experience managing both direct sales and channel/rep-based sales structures, including influencing without full authority
- Proven ability to drive consultative, long-cycle sales processes including forecasting, proposal development, and contract negotiations
