Job Description

1. Field Supervision

  • Oversee all day-to-day on-site construction operations.
  • Direct and supervise subcontractors, site supervisors, and trade personnel.
  • Ensure work progresses in accordance with project plans, specifications, and schedules.

2. Project Coordination

  • Collaborate with the project manager, design teams, engineers, and local authorities.
  • Review drawings and specifications to identify conflicts or discrepancies.
  • Participate in regular coordination and progress meetings.

3. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Enforce all safety procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA and local regulations.
  • Conduct safety briefings, toolbox talks, and routine site safety inspections.
  • Implement incident reporting and corrective action protocols.

4. Quality Assurance

  • Inspect work to confirm compliance with contract requirements and quality standards.
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, and third-party quality controls.
  • Lead punch list development, tracking, and resolution.

5. Scheduling & Planning

  • Monitor daily progress against the construction schedule.
  • Identify potential delays and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Work closely with schedulers to adjust sequencing and resource allocations.

6. Resource Management

  • Oversee delivery and utilization of equipment and materials.
  • Ensure labor, materials, and equipment meet project needs and timelines.
  • Coordinate with logistics teams for on-time deliveries.

7. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily reports, progress logs, and photographic documentation.
  • Communicate field updates, issues, and risks to the Project Manager.
  • Track labor hours, equipment usage, and productivity metrics.

8. Stakeholder Communication

  • Coordinate with local agencies, inspectors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Address inquiries or concerns from community members or project neighbors when required.

Bus Terminal-Specific Responsibilities

  • Coordinate utility relocations and installation of underground infrastructure.
  • Support integration of specialized transit elements (e.g., bus bays, canopies, fare collection systems).
  • Manage traffic and pedestrian safety around the work zone.
  • Develop and execute staging plans within an active transit environment, if applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental requirements such as stormwater management and noise controls.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum 15 years of construction supervision experience, ideally within transit or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and architectural systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership on large-scale public or transportation-focused projects.
  • OSHA 30 certification required; PMP or CM-Lean certification is an asset.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Bluebeam, Procore, and Primavera.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
