NYC Studio Lead - Commercial & Mixed-Use

Overview:

The Studio Practice Leader manages the studio and oversees multiple project teams, focusing on designing and delivering exceptional solutions for specific practice areas. This role involves executing the practice strategy and leading various projects simultaneously, enhancing leadership skills in relationship-building, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead design efforts for the Commercial-Mixed Use studio in New York City.
  • Engage in significant national and international design projects.
  • Foster a strong design culture in the NYC office and the broader practice.
  • Oversee project processes, service delivery, and documentation.
  • Collaborate on strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Partner with leadership to advance firm and office goals.
  • Guide projects from initial marketing to construction completion.
  • Mentor designers and lead design critiques.
  • Act as the primary client interface, building strong relationships.
  • Manage client expectations and team communication.
  • Monitor staffing and studio efficiency.
  • Serve as a technical resource and resolve complex issues.
  • Ensure high-quality design documentation and client satisfaction.
  • Communicate firm initiatives and priorities.
  • Incorporate strategic priorities into client solutions.
  • Promote a unified firm mindset and integrate best practices.
  • Utilize persuasion and negotiation skills on critical issues.

Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field.
  • Licensure or certification preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience, including leadership roles.
  • Significant experience in the studio's practice area.
  • Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
  • Familiarity with design software and MS Office Suite.
  • Proven track record in leading design teams and client relationships.
  • Strong presentation, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel.

Base Salary Range: $140K - $170K annually (New York locations only)
