Operations Manager - Building Automation Systems (BAS)

Location: Dallas, Texas (multiple sites / regional oversight)
Employment Type: Full-Time


Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Operations Manager to lead and optimize our Building Automation Systems (BAS) operations across Texas. This role is responsible for overseeing project delivery, service operations, field teams, and customer satisfaction within a fast-growing automation and smart building environment.

The ideal candidate combines strong operational leadership, technical BAS knowledge, and commercial acumen, with a proven ability to manage teams, improve processes, and deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Lead daily operations for BAS installation, commissioning, and service teams across Texas.
  • Drive operational efficiency, resource planning, and workflow optimization.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs related to project performance, service delivery, and profitability.
  • Ensure projects are executed on time, within scope, and within budget.

Project & Service Management

  • Oversee project lifecycle from design review through commissioning and client handover.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure adherence to contract requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations.
  • Support service and maintenance operations, including troubleshooting escalation.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Manage, mentor, and grow a team of project managers, field technicians, and engineers.
  • Conduct performance reviews, workforce planning, and training initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, general contractors, and partners.
  • Act as the escalation point for major customer issues or project challenges.
  • Support business development efforts by collaborating with sales to win new projects.

Financial & Business Performance

  • Manage operational budgets, cost controls, and P&L performance.
  • Forecast revenue, margins, and resource requirements.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with Texas state regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies.
  • Promote a strong safety culture across all job sites.
  • Maintain documentation and reporting standards.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5-10+ years of experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, or smart building technologies.
  • 3+ years in an operational leadership or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of BAS platforms (e.g., Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Tridium/Niagara).
  • Experience managing projects and field teams in construction or building technologies.
  • Proven experience managing budgets, P&L, and operational metrics.

Preferred

  • Experience working in Texas or knowledge of local codes and regulations.
  • PMP certification or similar project management credentials.
  • Familiarity with energy management systems and IoT-enabled building platforms.
  • Background in HVAC, controls engineering, or electrical systems.
