Summary

This role is a territory-based outside sales position focused on selling and supporting industrial and power generation equipment across heavy process industries like utilities, mining, refining, and manufacturing. The position blends technical sales with problem solving, requiring regular on-site engagement to troubleshoot equipment, improve operations, and identify upgrade opportunities. The individual represents multiple OEM partners and must balance competing priorities while acting as a trusted advisor to plant engineers, operators, and leadership. Travel is significant, with frequent visits to facilities and consistent in-person customer interaction required to drive sales activity.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a defined multi-state territory by maintaining existing customer relationships and developing new business through consistent field engagement
  • Diagnose operational issues at industrial facilities and recommend equipment, parts, or system upgrades aligned with customer needs
  • Represent multiple manufacturers and coordinate solutions across product lines including mechanical systems, fluid handling, heat transfer, air systems, and environmental controls
  • Maintain a high level of weekly customer communication and activity, including site visits, follow-ups, and pipeline development
  • Collaborate with internal support staff and OEM partners to deliver proposals, manage projects, and execute technical sales strategies

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in engineering or a technical field; strong mechanical and electrical aptitude required
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial, power generation, or process equipment sales, service, or operations
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote territory with a home-based office setup
  • Proven ability to build trust with technical buyers and navigate plant-level and executive-level conversations
  • Willingness to travel extensively including overnight visits to remote industrial sites
