Position Overview
They are seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer with a seller-doer mindset to help drive growth and lead technical delivery in the Central Coast region. This is a strategic leadership role focused on client development, project execution, and mentorship. You'll work closely with public agencies, developers, and internal teams to deliver innovative and practical geotechnical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships across the public and private sectors
  • Win work through direct outreach, proposals, and strategic partnerships
  • Lead and manage geotechnical investigations, analyses, design recommendations, and reporting
  • Serve as technical lead and signatory on high-visibility and complex projects
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to engineers, geologists, and field staff
  • Represent Earth Systems at industry and community events
  • Collaborate with other principals on business strategy, quality assurance, and staff development
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard

Qualifications

  • B.S. or M.S. in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering
  • California P.E. required; G.E. license strongly preferred
  • Minimum 12+ years of geotechnical experience, with a proven record of client development and project delivery
  • Strong knowledge of Central Coast geotechnical conditions and permitting environment
  • Proficiency in business development, client communication, and proposal preparation
  • Familiarity with local markets
  • Proven leadership skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Valid driver's license and ability to support field visits and client meetings as needed
