About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Project Evaluations Expert with a strong focus on mining projects and the capability to act as an Expert Witness in legal or arbitration settings. This is a senior advisory role that combines technical depth, commercial insight, and legal credibility. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in resource project evaluations, economic modeling, and preferably exposure to mergers & acquisitions within the mining sector.

Key Responsibilities


Project Evaluation & Feasibility

  • Conduct comprehensive technical and economic evaluations of mining projects (greenfield and brownfield).
  • Review geological data, mine plans, and engineering designs for compliance with international standards (JORC, NI 43-101).
  • Perform financial modeling, risk assessments, and sensitivity analyses to support investment decisions.

Expert Witness & Dispute Resolution

  • Prepare independent, defensible reports for litigation, arbitration, and regulatory inquiries.
  • Provide credible testimony in court or tribunal settings.
  • Analyze project claims, contractual disputes, and cost overruns with forensic rigor.

Strategic Advisory & M&A Support

  • Contribute to due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and investment decisions in mining projects.
  • Assess asset valuations and identify risks and opportunities for resource projects.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with legal teams, project owners, and investors to deliver impartial evaluations.
  • Present findings clearly and persuasively to senior management and external stakeholders.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, or related discipline.
  • 15+ years experience in mining project development, operations, or consulting.
  • Proven expertise in project feasibility studies, economic evaluations, and risk analysis.
  • Prior experience as an Expert Witness or involvement in dispute resolution/arbitration highly desirable.
  • Exposure to M&A activities within mining or resource projects is a strong advantage.
  • Exceptional communication and report-writing skills; ability to present complex findings clearly.
