Project Architect
Position Description
A full-service architectural firm is seeking a Licensed Project Architect to lead the production of construction drawings and specifications, with additional responsibilities across design and construction administration. This role includes mentoring and supervising project team members while managing schedules, resources, and budgets to deliver projects on time and within scope.
The position is fast-paced and collaborative, requiring regular interaction with clients, code officials, and external consultants. Occasional travel is required for site visits and construction administration. The Project Architect will contribute to QA/QC efforts, stamp drawings, and report to a Senior Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with clients to understand goals and develop compliant design solutions
- Plan and manage project budgets, schedules, and milestones
- Produce and coordinate schematic design, design development, and construction documents
- Lead coordination with engineering consultants and third-party vendors
- Prepare and edit architectural specifications
- Lead project meetings and manage documentation
- Ensure compliance with building, life safety, health, and accessibility codes
- Manage RFIs, ASIs, addenda, change orders, and construction administration activities
- Review and negotiate pay applications and change orders
- Supervise and mentor junior staff throughout the project lifecycle
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong understanding of design regulations, codes, and accessibility requirements
- Proven leadership, planning, and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a team
- Ability to perform site observations and construction-related field work
Requirements
- 7+ years of professional experience
- Licensed architect with NCARB certification
- Client management experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Advanced Revit experience
- Multi-state project experience preferred
