Salary: $130,000-$150,000 base + performance-based bonus

A fast-growing renewable energy company is seeking a Project Development Manager to support the expansion of its utility-scale solar and energy storage portfolio across the Eastern United States. The organization is committed to delivering impactful clean energy solutions and accelerating the transition to a sustainable energy future.


Position Overview

The Project Development Manager will lead the development of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects from early-stage planning through to notice-to-proceed (NTP). This role is based in Charlotte, NC, and offers a hybrid work schedule.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee project development activities including site identification, land acquisition, permitting, interconnection, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to ensure timely and cost-effective project advancement.
  • Support the preparation of investment memos and internal approvals for key project milestones.
  • Collaborate with engineering, legal, finance, and construction teams to ensure project readiness for NTP.
  • Monitor regulatory and market developments in key ISOs such as PJM, SERC, and MISO to inform project strategy.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in utility-scale solar and/or energy storage project development.
  • Experience in at least two of the following areas: site acquisition, permitting, interconnection, environmental review, or project financing.
  • Familiarity with U.S. energy markets, particularly PJM, SERC, MISO, or SEEM.
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
