Project Engineer - Ground Improvement / Geotechnical Solutions
Location: Remote (U.S. - regional travel required)
Overview
A leading provider of ground improvement and geotechnical design-build solutions is seeking a Project Engineer to support projects across a multi-state region. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex foundation and soil stabilization projects, partnering with internal teams and contractors to deliver cost-effective engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with regional managers and engineering teams to provide technical input on project feasibility, bidding, and design
- Perform engineering analyses and contribute to design reviews for ground improvement systems
- Prepare and review engineering calculations with limited supervision
- Conduct geotechnical analyses including slope stability, settlement, and bearing capacity
- Support internal design review teams on ground improvement solutions such as rammed aggregate piers and similar systems
- Assist in troubleshooting construction challenges and resolving design issues in real time
- Review and approve design packages in line with engineering standards and project requirements
- Deliver technical presentations to internal teams, partners, and clients
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics and foundation loading conditions
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, reports, and construction documents
- Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Able to manage multiple priorities and drive tasks through to completion
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools and general engineering software
Technical Tools (preferred)
- AutoCAD
- Geotechnical software such as SLIDE, SLOPE/W, Settle3D or similar
Education & Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (required)
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering (preferred)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure is a plus
