Project Manager (Rail)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned and results-driven Rail Project Manager to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex rail infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have direct experience managing projects for NYCT (New York City Transit)/NYCTA (New York City Transit Authority), or LIRR (Long Island Rail Road), and a strong background in transit construction, stakeholder coordination, and regulatory compliance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all phases of rail construction projects from pre-construction through closeout.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with NYCT/NYCTA, or LIRR standards, specifications, and procedures.
  • Prepare and present project status reports, forecasts, and risk assessments to senior leadership and clients.
  • Oversee procurement, contract administration, and change management processes.
  • Manage project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, and progress reports.
  • Foster a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration across all project stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in rail or heavy civil project management, with at least 3 years of direct experience on NYCT/NYCTA, or LIRR projects.
  • Strong understanding of transit infrastructure, including track, signals, stations, and systems integration.
  • Proven ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and complex project scopes.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and construction documentation platforms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PMP Certification or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Familiarity with union labor coordination and MTA reporting protocols
  • Experience with design-build or CM/GC delivery methods
