Regional Manager - Transportation Engineering

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with strong project management experience in transportation design. You'll oversee multiple projects, guide teams, manage budgets and schedules, and ensure top-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development of high-quality highway and roadway design plans that align with client requirements, project budgets, and timelines.
  • Direct the creation and maintenance of detailed schedules, work plans, and daily operational activities within the office.
  • Foster collaboration across internal teams and external partners, including coordination with other design disciplines.
  • Communicate project strategies and progress updates regularly to stakeholders to ensure transparency and alignment.
  • Lead and guide engineers, CAD technicians, and junior staff, delegating tasks effectively while managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Contribute to business development efforts through proposal preparation, client presentations, and pursuit of new projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of Illinois.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in civil and highway design for state DOTs, counties, municipalities, or similar agencies; prior IDOT project involvement is highly desirable.
  • At least 3 years of proven experience managing transportation projects successfully.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare, negotiate, and review design fee proposals and contractual agreements.
  • Proficient in MicroStation and related design tools such as Geopak, InRoads, and/or OpenRoads Designer (ORD) within IDOT or similar CADD environments.
