REMOTE - Principal - Coal Combustion Residuals
This is a full-time position with flexibility to be based in a U.S. office or work remotely, depending on project and team needs.
In this role, you will work closely with project managers, engineers, and scientists to support the planning and execution of CCR-related projects across the energy and mining sectors. The position is best suited for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving, reviewing and guiding project work, and staying closely involved in project delivery.
Core Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership on CCR projects, including review of designs, work plans, and regulatory deliverables
- Support project teams with interpretation and application of federal and state CCR regulations
- Review and contribute to technical reports, closure plans, and compliance documentation
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to develop practical, defensible solutions to site-specific challenges
- Offer guidance to junior staff and review technical work to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Participate in client discussions as a technical resource, supporting ongoing project work
- Maintain alignment with health and safety requirements across all activities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field
- 15+ years of experience working on CCR projects, including design, compliance, or closure-related work
- Strong understanding of CCR regulations and their application across different project phases
- Professional licensure (PE, PG, or equivalent)
- Experience preparing and reviewing technical reports and regulatory submittals
- Ability to lead technical workstreams and provide direction on complex environmental issues
