Resident Engineer - Transportation Infrastructure (Northern California)

The Role
You will act as the owner's representative, overseeing construction projects from inception through completion, ensuring quality, compliance, and successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead construction oversight for transportation and infrastructure projects
  • Chair client and contractor meetings
  • Review plans and specifications to ensure compliance
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation
  • Oversee field inspection teams and provide technical guidance
  • Maintain project controls including cost, schedule, and reporting
  • Coordinate across stakeholders including clients, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies
  • Supervise field operations, inspection, materials testing, and contract administration

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience delivering local, state, and federally funded transportation projects in Northern California
  • Background across civil, structural, electrical/mechanical, and underground utility infrastructure
  • Familiarity with transit, transportation, and operational facility projects
  • Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills
  • Proven ability to manage teams in a field and office environment

Qualifications

  • BS in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Structural Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California
  • 10+ years of industry experience (design, construction, or project engineering)
  • 5+ years managing construction projects or acting as Resident Engineer for a public agency
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
