Roadway Engineer | New York City, NY
My client is seeking a Senior Civil Roadway Engineer to join their New York City, NY office. This role will play an integral part in delivering public roadway and infrastructure design projects for a wide array of New York City and State agency clients. The selected candidate will work in an environment that values collaboration, professional growth, and innovation, contributing to projects that help shape the future of New York.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prior experience working on infrastructure projects for NYCDDC and NYCDOT is highly preferred. Experience with additional agencies-such as NYSDOT, NYCEDC, NYCDEP, PANYNJ, and MTA-is considered beneficial.
- Lead the civil design and development of plans, specifications, and technical deliverables for capital improvement projects involving roadway, drainage, and utility systems throughout New York City.
- Demonstrate strong technical proficiency in roadway engineering, including horizontal and vertical alignments, grading, drainage, utility coordination, water and sewer design, traffic signal and street lighting layouts, and construction staging/maintenance and protection of traffic.
- Provide leadership, guidance, mentorship, and technical training to junior engineering staff.
- Manage project tasks, scheduling, and budgeting while supporting overall project management activities.
- Coordinate day‑to‑day communication and collaboration among project teams, clients, and relevant stakeholders.
- Maintain high standards of quality and timely delivery of project work while balancing multiple priorities in a client-focused and detail-oriented environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (required).
- 5-10 years of relevant professional experience.
- New York State Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred, or the ability to obtain licensure within 6-12 months of hire.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required.
- Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads is a plus.
