RPLS - Houston
The company is seeking a Senior Survey Manager to join its team in Houston, TX. This individual will lead and manage all aspects of a regional survey department while applying advanced knowledge of surveying principles and practices. The role includes staff management, project oversight, business development, and client relationship management in a progressive, technology‑forward environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop strategies and approaches to meet client objectives, including planning, execution, data reduction, and successful delivery of multiple projects.
- Prepare project data for field work, schedule field crews, review and process field data, and perform adjustments and QA/QC.
- Lead the preparation and revision of written descriptions, survey plans, reports, and CAD deliverables.
- Conduct complex analyses within broader survey projects and provide interpretation of findings.
- Ensure that data collection and reduction are completed accurately, on time, and within budget.
- Provide training on new office and field technologies, tools, and software.
- Plan, schedule, and develop task and project budgets; prepare project billings and progress reports.
- Interview, supervise, mentor, and motivate survey staff.
- Maintain existing client relationships and engage in business development with new and existing clients.
- Prepare proposals, project scopes, estimates, budgets, and reports.
- Manage multiple projects with varying deadlines, budgets, and schedules.
- Participate in client and regulatory meetings.
- Perform additional duties as requested.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of combined field and office surveying experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Carlson; strong overall computer skills.
- State Surveyor license, or ability to obtain one.
- Experience preparing proposals and job estimates.
- Strong skills in boundary analysis and quality control for survey deliverables.
- Proven project management abilities, including staff oversight, client interaction, and coordination with senior leadership and regulatory agencies.
- Demonstrated experience with proposal writing, contract negotiations, estimating, project management, and budget oversight.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and with clients.
- Proficiency with field equipment such as Total Stations, Data Collectors, Laser Scanners, and GPS units.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel to field sites as needed.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license in good standing.
