SCADA Engineer (AVEVA) - Remote
Overview
The SCADA Engineer will design, develop, configure, and support AVEVA (Wonderware)‑based HMI/SCADA systems for municipal and industrial clients. This role blends controls engineering, software configuration, networking, and field commissioning to deliver reliable, secure, and high‑performance automation systems.
Key Responsibilities
SCADA & HMI Development
Build and configure AVEVA System Platform, InTouch, OMI, and related applications
Develop graphics, tag databases, alarming, historian points, trends, and reports
Implement scripting, object templates, and standards‑based architectures
Configure AVEVA Historian, SQL queries, and data‑logging strategies
PLC & System Integration
Integrate SCADA with PLCs using Modbus TCP, Ethernet/IP, DNP3, OPC UA, and other industrial protocols
Collaborate with PLC programmers to align SCADA functionality with control logic
Validate I/O mapping, communication paths, and system performance
Project Engineering
Support system design, including architecture diagrams, network layouts, and server/VM specifications
Participate in FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities
Troubleshoot SCADA, network, and instrumentation issues during startup
Prepare technical documentation, O&M manuals, and as‑built updates
Cybersecurity & Reliability
Implement secure configurations aligned with ISA/IEC 62443 principles
Support patching, backups, redundancy, and disaster‑recovery planning
Maintain high system uptime and operational visibility for critical infrastructure
Client & Team Collaboration
Work with project managers, operators, integrators, and contractors to deliver tailored solutions
Provide operator training and post‑deployment support
Contribute to internal standards, templates, and best practices
Qualifications
Required
B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Controls, or related field
2-7+ years of experience with AVEVA (Wonderware) platforms
Hands‑on experience with SCADA development, industrial networking, and PLC integration
Strong troubleshooting skills across software, hardware, and communications
Familiarity with virtualization (VMware/Hyper‑V) and Windows Server environments
