Senior Consulting Biologist & Project Manager
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Consulting Biologist & Project Manager to join a growing and dynamic environmental consultancy. This role is ideal for a driven professional looking to combine technical ecological expertise with project leadership and client-facing responsibilities.
You will play a key role in delivering high-quality ecological and environmental consulting services across a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting sustainable development while ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental best practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage ecological and biological consulting projects from inception through to completion
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee field surveys, data collection, and analysis
- Prepare and review technical reports, including ecological assessments and environmental impact documentation
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resourcing to ensure successful delivery
- Provide expert advice on environmental regulations, permitting, and compliance
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities
- Support business development activities, including proposals and client engagement
- Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to team development and knowledge sharing
Requirements
Essential:
- Highly experienced in writing biological documents in Southern California (8-15+ years)
- Degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
- Proven experience in ecological consulting or a related field
- Strong project management experience, including leading complex projects
- In-depth knowledge of environmental legislation and regulatory frameworks
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively
Desirable:
- Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in a relevant field
- Professional membership (e.g., CIEEM or equivalent)
- Experience managing client relationships and stakeholder engagement
- Previous experience in team leadership or mentoring
