Senior Controls Engineer, New Mexico

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Albuquerque, NM. This role involves designing and delivering electrical and control systems for industrial projects, from concept through commissioning. The ideal candidate will have expertise in power distribution (480 VAC and below), instrumentation, and hazardous area design, along with leadership skills to manage projects and mentor team members.

You'll work directly with clients and internal teams to define requirements, develop specifications, and ensure successful implementation of electrical solutions across multiple industries.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems including power distribution, MCCs, motor circuits, and hazardous area layouts.
  • Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.
  • Specify electrical equipment and instrumentation, ensuring compliance with NEC and local codes.
  • Oversee installation, checkout, and commissioning of electrical and control systems.
  • Prepare scope of work, cost estimates, and project schedules.
  • Act as technical lead or project manager, assigning tasks and monitoring progress.
  • Support factory acceptance testing and on-site startup activities.
  • Provide training and final documentation to clients.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and manage subcontractors.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and client solutions.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical design and commissioning.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and hazardous area requirements.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and electrical design software.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and lead teams.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Preferred:

  • Experience with PLC/DCS programming and HMI/SCADA systems.
  • Familiarity with IT/OT network design.

Compensation

Competitive salary based on experience: $130K+ OTE, bonus opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.
