Senior Controls Engineer-NM

Major Responsibilities

Project Execution

  • Identify, prioritize, and schedule tasks with accountability for meeting deadlines

  • Detect issues early and contribute to timely resolution

  • Work under the guidance of senior engineers on various automation and control projects

  • Maintain direct and consistent communication with clients

  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and contractual requirements

  • Contribute to engineering design and implementation, focusing on software (PLC/DCS, HMI) and assisting with hardware integration and system architecture

  • Support all stages of testing and commissioning: factory acceptance, site acceptance, user acceptance, and training

  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation including requirements, status updates, RFIs, control narratives, customer correspondence, and software comments

  • Program logic, design HMI graphics, configure device communications, and manage control databases

  • Review and update technical documents such as PFDs, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, conduit schedules, I/O lists, and instrumentation datasheets

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance tools, templates, and execution methodologies


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Chemical, Controls, or Computer Engineering preferred) or equivalent technical education and experience

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in process control, automation, manufacturing, or industrial systems

  • Experience with Rockwell and/or GE Cimplicity preferred

  • Hands-on experience in design, development, and deployment of PLC, DCS, and/or SCADA/HMI systems

  • Strong documentation and collaboration skills; experience with tools like SharePoint is a plus

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including professional interaction with clients and project stakeholders

  • Valid driver's license with willingness to travel up to 25%


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience across multiple industries (e.g., Oil & Gas, Chemicals, Water/Wastewater)

  • Proficiency in Schneider Unity and Allen-Bradley ControlLogix (PlantPAx a plus)

  • Familiarity with HMI/SCADA platforms like ICONICS or Wonderware

  • Field experience in system checkout, testing, startup, and commissioning
