Senior Electrical Engineer I (BoP)
Location: Austin, TX or Chicago, IL
Position Overview
A leading renewable energy developer is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer I BoP to drive the design and execution of electrical systems for onshore wind, solar, and energy storage projects. This role covers the entire project lifecycle-from early development through construction and handover to operations.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead electrical BoP design from development through Issued for Construction (IFC) packages
* Provide engineering support during pre-construction, construction, and operational turnover
* Ensure grid code compliance and manage interconnection requirements
* Specify and evaluate major electrical equipment
* Conduct power system modeling and studies
* Coordinate engineering topics during construction
* Manage third-party engineering consultants
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts
* Support NERC compliance documentation and studies
* Promote health, safety, and environmental standards in all designs
* Contribute to the development of engineering standards, processes, and procedures
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited); advanced degrees a plus
* Minimum 8 years of post-undergraduate experience in electrical engineering
* Expertise in transmission, substation, collection/distribution design, equipment specification, system protection, and power system studies
* Experience with renewable energy projects (wind, solar PV, battery storage) preferred
* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams
* Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
* Detail-oriented with strong business acumen
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: up to $156,000 base + bonus (salary based on experience, location, and qualifications)
