Senior Engineer - Water/Wastewater
Role Overview
This leadership position involves guiding interdisciplinary teams in the strategic planning, design, and oversight of water-related infrastructure initiatives. The focus is on medium to large-scale systems involving potable water, wastewater, and resource recovery. The role emphasizes client engagement, project delivery excellence, and long-term relationship building.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and coordinate integrated teams to deliver infrastructure solutions across water and wastewater systems.
- Cultivate and maintain client relationships through consistent project success and proactive communication.
- Lead strategic project pursuits, including proposal development and interview preparation.
- Facilitate collaborative workshops and support decision-making processes through alternatives evaluation.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff.
- Manage project scope, budget, and timelines across planning, design, and implementation phases.
- Produce high-quality deliverables such as planning documents, technical reports, design drawings, and specifications.
- Occasional travel may be required across the western U.S.
Qualifications & Attributes
- Degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline; advanced degree preferred.
- Professional Engineering license (or ability to obtain via reciprocity within a defined timeframe).
- Proven track record in delivering infrastructure projects that balance innovation, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
- Over a decade of experience in water infrastructure planning, design, or construction.
- Strong ability to define project objectives and translate them into actionable plans.
- Collaborative mindset with a commitment to team development and knowledge sharing.
- Active involvement in industry organizations and awareness of emerging technologies and practices.
- Comfortable taking initiative and ownership in a dynamic, client-focused environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in technical documentation and client presentations.
- Experience with sustainable design principles and alternative delivery methods is a plus.
- Strong client service orientation, with a focus on responsiveness, clarity, and problem-solving.
