Role Overview

This leadership position involves guiding interdisciplinary teams in the strategic planning, design, and oversight of water-related infrastructure initiatives. The focus is on medium to large-scale systems involving potable water, wastewater, and resource recovery. The role emphasizes client engagement, project delivery excellence, and long-term relationship building.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate integrated teams to deliver infrastructure solutions across water and wastewater systems.
  • Cultivate and maintain client relationships through consistent project success and proactive communication.
  • Lead strategic project pursuits, including proposal development and interview preparation.
  • Facilitate collaborative workshops and support decision-making processes through alternatives evaluation.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior staff.
  • Manage project scope, budget, and timelines across planning, design, and implementation phases.
  • Produce high-quality deliverables such as planning documents, technical reports, design drawings, and specifications.
  • Occasional travel may be required across the western U.S.

Qualifications & Attributes

  • Degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineering license (or ability to obtain via reciprocity within a defined timeframe).
  • Proven track record in delivering infrastructure projects that balance innovation, sustainability, and operational efficiency.
  • Over a decade of experience in water infrastructure planning, design, or construction.
  • Strong ability to define project objectives and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Collaborative mindset with a commitment to team development and knowledge sharing.
  • Active involvement in industry organizations and awareness of emerging technologies and practices.
  • Comfortable taking initiative and ownership in a dynamic, client-focused environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in technical documentation and client presentations.
  • Experience with sustainable design principles and alternative delivery methods is a plus.
  • Strong client service orientation, with a focus on responsiveness, clarity, and problem-solving.
  • Passion for mentoring and contributing to a supportive team culture.
