Position Overview

The organization is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to support its growing operations in Nashville. This role involves leading geotechnical engineering components on large, complex programs, conducting advanced evaluations, guiding junior staff, and supporting client relationships across Tennessee and nationwide markets.

This position spans the full project lifecycle-from concept development and field investigations through analytical evaluation, design input, documentation, and construction‑phase support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead geotechnical engineering efforts on major development, infrastructure, and transportation programs
  • Conduct advanced geotechnical analyses including settlement, slope stability, deep foundations, retaining structures, and soil/rock behavior
  • Provide design guidance and engineering evaluations for large‑scale commercial, DOT, and mission‑critical facilities
  • Lead or support proposals, project estimates, work plans, and technical recommendations
  • Conduct site visits, project meetings, and client consultations ensuring clarity, risk management, and informed decision‑making
  • Develop, oversee, and manage projects for both new and repeat clients, ensuring quality, profitability, and technical excellence
  • Offer mentorship and senior‑level guidance to engineers, project managers, and technical staff
  • Collaborate with internal multidisciplinary teams to support project delivery on national programs

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred)
  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
  • 7-12+ years of geotechnical engineering experience
  • Strong technical background in soil mechanics, rock mechanics, deep foundations, ground improvement, and related analyses
  • Experience supporting or leading large multidisciplinary or complex engineering projects
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and client‑facing capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional teams and manage engineering deliverables
