Senior Land Development Engineer
We're partnering with a well-established civil engineering firm in Baton Rouge that is looking to add a Senior Land Development Engineer to its growing team. This is a strong opportunity for an experienced civil engineer who enjoys leading land development projects, mentoring junior staff, and working directly with clients, developers, and local agencies.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in site development, grading, drainage, utilities, and permitting, who is looking to take on more technical leadership and project responsibility within a collaborative and well-respected environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of land development projects from concept through construction
- Prepare and review plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates for site development projects
- Oversee design elements including grading, storm drainage, water/sewer utilities, roadways, and erosion control
- Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
- Coordinate with clients, municipalities, regulatory agencies, and internal teams
- Mentor and support junior engineers and EITs
- Assist with permitting and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Participate in client meetings, proposal support, and business development efforts as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- PE license required (Louisiana PE preferred, or ability to obtain)
- 7+ years of experience in land development / site civil engineering
- Strong experience with commercial, residential, municipal, or mixed-use development projects
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Strong understanding of grading, drainage, utility layout, stormwater design, and permitting processes
- Proven ability to manage projects and work directly with clients
- Strong communication and leadership skills
Preferred Experience
- Experience working on projects in Louisiana and familiarity with local permitting agencies/jurisdictions
- Experience reviewing and sealing engineering documents
- Background working in a consulting engineering environment
